Britannia was incorporated in 1918 while Britannia Biscuits Co LIMITED in Calcutta. In 1924, Pea Freon UK bought a handling stake, which will later passed on to the Affiliated Biscuits International (ABI) and UK centered company. Throughout the 50's and 60's, Britannia expanded businesses to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. In 1989, L M Pillai, a Singapore based NRI businessman together with the Group DANONE acquired Hard anodized cookware operations of Nabisco, hence acquiring managing stake in Britannia. Later on, Group DANONE and Nusli Wadia overtook Pillai's loge.
Evolution of Britannia:
1892 - A humble genesis was made to manufacture biscuits in a small residence in Central Calcutta, with an investment of Rs. 295.
1897 - The business was acquired by simply Gupta brothers who relocated operations to Dum in Calcutta under the name of Sixth is v. S. Brothers.
1918 - Mr. C. H. Holmes, an English organization man, joined with Gupta Brothers. Britannia was integrated on the twenty first of 03 1918 as a public limited company underneath the Indian Companies Act VII of 1913.
1924 -- New factories were established in Mumbai and Calcutta. Britannia became a subsidiary of Peek, Freon & Organization Limited, a top biscuit company in UK.
1997 - вЂEat Healthier, Think Better' became the brand new corporate rule. Britannia moved into the milk business. вЂTiger' biscuits had been launched. вЂJim Jam' and вЂCheckers' were launched.
2002 - Britannia formed a joint venture with Fonterra, the world's second largest dairy company and Britannia New Zealand Foods Private Limited was born.
june 2006 - Company Tiger's re-birth was designated by the motto вЂSwasth KhaoвЂќ Tiger Prohibit Jao', which usually became a common chant. Britannia launched вЂGreetings' a range of assorted gift bags. Britannia вЂ50-50 Pepper Chakkar' was launched.
